Come June and as the rains hit Mumbai, the city gets all mushy and filmy. The 70 mm has beautifully captured and portrayed the different moods of monsoon. We have a pick of some all time favorite rain numbers, set in different situations in a truly filmy ‘ishtyle’

One song that is synonymous to rains is undoubtedly, Aaj rapat jaaye from Namak Halal, where Big B and dusky siren Smita Patil let go off all inhibitions and dance on the streets, in the rains.

Smita Patil clad in a plain white cotton sari, simple yet sexy could give the Bips and Kats of today a run for their money, while Amitabh Bachchan looks sexy as ever. The most interesting bit about the song is probably the most innovative use of the Haath gaadi or the Thela on which Big B puts Smita Patil on while dancing in the rains

If rainy season is here, can romance be far behind? But the situation becomes depressing when our film hero does not have the woman of his dreams with him. One of the best songs in the recent past where a lover yearns to be with his sweetheart is Lagi Aaj Saawan Ki from Chandni.

Through the song, Vinod Khanna recollects all the happy moments he shared with his lady love on one such rainy night on a different day, a different date!!!

A white top and a blue dungaree with a see through raincoat and a hat to match, who can forget Sridevi in her college girl avatar in Na Jaane Kaha Se Aayi Hai from Chalbaaz.

No sex, no eroticism just plain fun in the rain in a very teenage style. The funky clothes and the funny dances were and are till date a treat for the eyes.

Soothing music by R.D Burman with some beautiful and scenic locales and a simple looking Manisha Koirala along with Anil Kapoor, and a backdrop of the 40's makes Rim Jhim Rim Jhim from the movie 1942 A Love Story truly memorable.

Poetry which describes the rains and romance in a very sober manner yet does not fail to inspire romantics….

A sensuous and curvaceous Raveena Tandon gyrating in the rains in a yellow sari, and a coy Akshay Kumar giving in to this seductress.

The opening music of Tip Tip Barsa Paani from Mohra still reminds you of showers and the very sexy and sensuous Raveena Tandon.

She seems to be voicing every young girl’s dream when she dances carefree in the rains in a white short skirt in Mere Khwabon Mei Jo Aaye from DDLJ.

Though Kajol is a bit on the heavier side she looks cute and adorable jumping and frolicking in the rains in search of her prince charming.
