Rani at TV Show!

Rani Mukerji attended a press event to mark the launch of the TV series Kisi Ki Nazarr Na Lage, directed by her brother Rajaa Mukerji, at Ramee International, Juhu, Monday late evening, April 21.
Almost the entire Mukerji clan attended the event which was delayed because 'Rani' (there is a pun there) arrived an hour and a half late, even though she stays just a few minutes away from the event venue.
More interestingly, she was in mute mode, at least as far as the press was concerned.

Her brother spun the perfect yarn to explain her odd behavior.
"She was not well, and she asked me to cancel the event, but I couldn't since I had made all arrangements. So I asked her to come if she cannot talk," he explained.
Rani Mukerji was probably invited to the event by her brother to attract the media, which is generally not excited when a new soap is launched.

Rani, keen to help out her brother, probably realized that if she attended, the press would have questions, not for Rajaa on the TV series, but for her on her current state of relationship with Aditya. So she decided to go mute.
Grudgingly, we have to admit, that Rani was right about the intent of the media. See, Rani maybe brash, not stupid!

When it was time for media interaction, TV journalists, outwitted but still desperate for juicy bytes, bluntly asked Rajaa if nuptials were on the cards for Rani and Aditya! (Subtleness is not something that you associate with journalists these days. Film stars should consider themselves lucky journos haven't gotten even more direct. A few years down the line they could well be quizzing actress X on her matrimonial intents with a more direct - "When will you be [bleep]ing Y" instead of "When will you be marrying Y")
But we digress. Rajaa was well prepared for the desperate question.
"It's just a rumor. See Rani is working with Yash Raj Films, she is doing a lot of work with them. Aditya is just her producer. It's a professional relationship, so that doesn't mean she is having an affair with him," he said.
To the best of our knowledge, Rajaa used the word affair, not the press.
Having given you the fun information, we must also do our duty.
"The soap is a highly emotional family drama, depicting authentic Bengali culture, a facet which has rarely been explored on Indian television," said Rajaa Mukerji. It will be aired at 1pm, Monday to Fridays, starting May 5, on DD1. 'Kisi Ki Nazarr Na Lage' features the late Shubhiraj along with Aroop Pal, Sanjeev Seth, Komolika Guhathakurta, Kashish Duggal, Ashish Kaul, Vikas Anand, Ekta Sharma, Damini Kanwal Shetty, Abir Goswami, Shivani Gosain, Buddhaditya Mohanty, Shabnam, Kaliprasad Mukherjee, Krutika, Kapil, Trupti, Subrat Sarcar and Mamta Dutta in the lead cast.
Written by Damini Kanwal Shetty and Raaj Shetty, other credits include lyrics by Gagandeep Brar, title music by Anuraag Ware and Rajaa Mukerji, playback singing by Priya Bhattacharya, editing by Pintu Gupta, concept by Rajaa Mukerji and camerawork by Digvijay R. Singh. While Rajaa Mukerji has directed the soap, it's being produced by Krishna Mukerji and Jyoti Mukerji
