With the debut of "E=MC2," Mariah Carey was set to take over the pop music landscape. That is exactly what she did.
Mariah hits number one - again!Scoring her sixth number one album, a rarity in pop music circles, Mariah Carey's latest sold over an unbelieable 150,000 copies in its first day of release alone. Carey also scored a few firsts on another level.
Her album's number one debut was the first of the year and also served as the highest selling first week sales of her career.
The songstress sold 462,972 copies of "E=MC2" and watch for her or last week's number one, Leona Lewis, to take the top spot once again before Madonna's "Hard Candy" arrives next week.
Earlier this month, Mariah passed Elvis Presley for the most number singles for a solo artist. Eighteen times Mariah Carey has hit number one and with the way this album is selling, she is not finished.
It is crazy to think that this singer, barely five years ago, had just had a film flop for the ages -- "Glittler" -- and was paid $30 million dollars by her record company at the time to release her.
It's Mariah Carey! Don't you think she'll come back?
