Akshay Kumar's 'Singh' performance at IIFA!

While Akshay Kumar’s initial makeover as a Sikh in ‘Singh is Kinng’ may have ruffled some feathers in the community, his spirited promotion of the film at IIFA Awards earlier this month in Bangkok struck the right notes.

Akshay performed with so much gusto that at one point he jumped too high for his own good and ended up spraining his leg. However, he continued to dance despite the pain, which made him limp around after his performance.

Following the performance, a group of Sikhs got up from amidst the audience and vociferously screamed "Singh is King".

Akshay used his performance not only to promote his film, but also pay a tribute to the Sikh community, through a message that appeared to come straight from his heart.

"One should never lose hope in life and remember that there is a "Singh"- a winner in everyone's heart!"

Akshay laced his daring stunts with some subtle humor. He did an unrehearsed sky dive over the audience and crashed into posters of Tashan with the side panels flashing "flop flop flop".

We are wondering how that went down with Yash Raj Chopra? Could Tashan be Akshay’s first and last film under the Yash Raj Films Banner?

A recording of the IIFA Awards night will air on Star Plus on Sunday, June 29.
