My Sister was Manhandled:Aditya!

Aditya Pancholi went through a harrowing health-scare experience at a private hospital in Mumbai when in Aditya's absence his sister brought their critically ill father to the hospital.

Distraught with worry Aditya says, "Please write this. The doctors in this hospital are quacks and butchers. They kept him waiting for three hours with a ruptured gall bladder before admitting him.

I was in Lonavala and my sister took him to this hospital because it was near our house. They took him into the ICU and without our knowledge sedated him for eighteen hours.

Finally they said they couldn't operate him. They had no back-up system, no facilities to operate on him. What kind of a hospital is this?"

Apparently while Aditya was heading back to Mumbai to attend to his father, his sister went into the ICU to see their father. "Just for ten minutes to attend to Dad.

A man from the hospital staff manhandled my sister. He pushed her out of the ICU. A lady doctor asked us to take our father away from the hospital."

By this time in the shocking story Aditya had reached the hospital. "My sister and I went to the police station for complaining against outraging her modesty. She decided not to press charges because we had our father to attend to.

We rushed our father to the newly-opened Criticare hospital.Last night (Thursday) he was immediately operated upon for a ruptured gallbladder. If we had left him in the other hospital he'd have been dead.

After we left three other patients followed us out of the other hospital into Criticare. The doctor who operated on my father said if they had waited five more hours he's have been dead."

Aditya has now decided to take the supposedly offensive hospital to task. "I'm going to the consumers' court.I'm filing a defamation case. And I'm writing to the Health Minister complaining against this hospital.

I'm just waiting for my father to be released from hospital and then I'll take action. Instead of attending to my 86-year old patient the entire hospital staff proceeded to the police station to see about my sister's complaint.

If this kind of medical negligence can happen to someone who's better-placed than many ordinary people in Mumbai I wonder what most people go through. I donated my entire body to medical research. And this is now my father gets treated when he's ill!"
